Today was the day! Franky was brought home from TierQuartier, an animal shelter in Vienna, Austria. Starting today, he’ll live with us.

To introduce him to the group, we decided to use the same method we have had successes with in the past. We built a temporary cage which has two main advantages: mobility – currently it’s in the living room where they’ll be close to us which is especially good in the beginning of an introduction – and versatility. The cage can be rearranged, expanded or shrunk relatively quickly and with ease.

So far, it’s looking really good and harmoneous. After the initial scouting and sniffing, Kimi, Foo and Fighter have settled into their new home and so has Franky. While still physically separated, they could see and smell each other, however the group of three showed no interest so far. Basically, that’s a good sign: no teeth rattering, no tail shaking, no aggression. Franky, on the other hand, has been exciting from the beginning. We were told he has been alone for quite some time now and it shows that he is longing for some playmates.

For now, we wait and see.

We now have a new, happy group of six!
